P.E Teacher

Job Description

P.E Teacher

Salary: from £34,000 to £42,000

Employment Type: Permanent, Term Time

Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday 8:15-16:00

Start: from September

Are you an active, resilient, and qualified educator driven by the belief that every learner deserves an equitable pathway to independence? We are seeking a pioneering Secondary P.E. SEND Teacher to join our inclusive education community at our brand-new, specialist provision. This is a unique opportunity to lead the physical education curriculum from its inception, helping to shape the learning and movement culture for a brand-new facility from the ground up.

In this role, you will be working with KS3 and KS4 students who face significant social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges or behavioural needs. Because of disrupted educational journeys or complex profiles, these secondary-aged learners are currently working at a primary curriculum level. You will be the architect of their physical literacy, teamwork, and emotional regulation, using sports and movement as powerful tools to break down barriers to learning.

Benefits

  • Be part of the founding team at a brand-new centre, establishing a positive and supportive active environment.
  • A full-time, permanent position offering long-term career stability within a growing specialist network.
  • A stable Monday to Friday working pattern that respects your work-life balance.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver highly engaging, differentiated physical education programmes tailored to secondary students working at Key Stage 1 and 2 levels.
  • Create a calm, structured, and emotionally safe environment during physical activities, utilising consistent routines and positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Write, implement, and monitor high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable targets linked directly to each student's EHCP outcomes.
  • Track, assess, and evidence progress against physical, social-emotional, and independence targets, contributing accurately to Annual Reviews and multi-agency liaison.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is strictly essential for this post, alongside a recognised degree.

  • Proven experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support environment, with specific experience supporting individuals with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behavioural profiles.
  • Strong experience or familiarity working with KS1/KS2 primary-level teaching frameworks, combined with an understanding of how to adapt these responsibilities responsively for secondary-aged students.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, a calm and patient attitude under pressure, and a total commitment to safeguarding and child-centred decision-making.

Even if you don't meet every single criterion listed, if you are a resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting students and a willingness to learn, we would still love to hear from you.
